FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

Do I have to purchase tickets in advance? May I purchase with cash?

You can purchase your tour tickets online through our website. All tickets must be purchased in advance. If you are having difficulty purchasing tickets through our site, call us directly at (347)860-0885, and we will assist you.

Do tours operate rain or shine?

Yes, our tours operate rain or shine unless the weather is truly inclement.

What type of clothing and shoes should I wear for the tour?

We will be on our feet for about 2 ½ hours, so please wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Bring an umbrella if the weather forecast calls for rain.

Will there be a place to use the restroom during the tour?

Yes, each tour is designed to give you at least one restroom stop.

What if I am late?

While it is a good idea to arrive at the meeting location 10-15 minutes prior to the tour start time, we know that circumstances are sometimes beyond our control. In fairness to the group members who arrived on time, we will begin the tour promptly at the tour's starting time.

However, if you are running late, you may call us at (347)860-0885 before the start of the tour, and we will try to coordinate a meeting place. There are no guarantees that you will be able to find the group once they have left, as our guide will be conducting the tour and may not pick up their cell phone, but we will do our best. Best rule of thumb: Be on time!

How much walking will there be on the tour?

Our tours generally cover between 2 and 3 miles over about 2 hours' time with several short opportunities to sit. We walk at a casual pace and stand in place for a few minutes at each of our tour stops. There may be slight inclines, stairs, or uneven pavement as we walk, but we try to take the path of least resistance. Please let us know in advance if you have need any special consideration, and we will do our best to make arrangements for you.

Are your tours appropriate for children?

Most of our tours are suitable for children. However, parental discretion is always advised. We love families, and we have several activities to actively engage children while they are on our tour. Our goal is to make history and culture exciting and enjoyable for everyone. Child admission tickets ($15) must be bought for children ages 3 to 13 (Under 3, always free!) Since we will be doing all of our sightseeing outdoors, you may bring a stroller. Just be aware that some sights may have narrow paths or stairs where strollers may not be permitted.

Are pets allowed on the tours?

We love pets, but it is against company policy to bring pets on our walking tours.

Do your tours cater to tourists? Do native New Yorkers take your tours?

A large percentage of our guests are native New Yorkers who want to discover the hidden gems of their "concrete jungle". Our tours are designed to show both the native and tourist some of the many secrets of New York, all while having a great time! We avoid the tourist traps and take you off the beaten path for a truly New York experience.

Are gratuities included in the tour price?

Tour guide gratuities are not included in the cost of your tour ticket. If you are pleased with your tour guide's performance, a gratuity is accepted and appreciated.

Are gift certificates available?

Yes! Gift certificates make great gifts, and they do not expire! Please call (347)860-0885 between the hours of 9am and 6pm Eastern to order a gift certificate.

Can I book a private tour?

Absolutely! We book private tours for groups up to 25 people. A minimum fee is charged for private tours. Please see our Private Tours & Events page for more information.

What are the meeting and ending places of the tours?

Each tour page lists both approximate start and end points of the tour. Exact locations are given at time of ticket purchase. We do our best to end our tours near public transportation. Please note that tours usually end quite a distance from their starting point. Your tour guide will be happy to give you any directions you may need at the end of your tour.
